Sažetak
Experience and understanding of music are important segments of music teaching in schools throughout Europe. By the activity of music listening, it contributes to the development of pupils’ musical culture and affects its overall development. Since the number of lessons for music in schools is very small, the conditions vary from city to city, from state to state, the aim of music has to be examined in a national and European context with the intention to live music in different ways which lead to a formation of the pupils’ cultural- artistic identity. In order for music teaching to succeed in this mission, it is necessary to enrich and enhance the pupils’ free time. One of the ways of its planned organization is attending classical concerts with the music teacher. The School@Concerts project initiated by dr. Andreas Bernhofer hosted by Mozarteum University aims for an Europe wide, comparative research project. It tends to find out, examine, analyze and compare the youth getting in touch with classical music in different countries that reveals cultural, national and individual varieties. The participants are from Austria, Croatia, England, Germany, Ireland, Great Britain, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland and Serbia. In the multiple case study the different single cases will be implemented, as well the comparative approach. In every single project the same selection criteria are applied: cooperation between schools and concert hosts, typical concerts, national projects with tradition (more than 5 years), one group of students from age 9/10 to 14/15, attending a symphonic concert. The project takes a closer look on the different aims, expectations and experiences of the participating parties as well as the preparation process and follow up activities. The data is collected by interviews and questionnaires on a pre-post setup using validated constructs (musical self concept, STOMP) as well as open questions. The results from two single cases will be shown: from Croatia and North Macedonia.
