Sažetak
During his life, collector Ante Topić Mimara (1898 – 1987) engaged in number of transfers of artworks, few of which are adequately documented. In the context of his obscure biography – especially regarding to decades before the end of WW2 – founded foremost on oral history, Topić Mimara's involvement in transferring the artworks acorss borders raises questions concerning earlier provenance of artworks, as wells as the means of these transfers, most of which occured in connection with Yugoslavia political establishment. The proposed paper will focus on the central decades of Topić Mimara's life (1940's and 1950's) when he participated in transfers about which most of are knownledge is based on the statements of several individuals. Newly uncovered archival sources however challenges these earlier naratives.
