Sažetak
Zagreb County is an important transit intersection of European traffic roads, and is therefore highly exposed to entries of foreign invasive species, such as Solidago canadensis L. and S. gigantea Aiton. This paper aims at determining the spread of the above species in the urban areas of Zagreb County. Field research was conducted in 10 towns in the 2006 – 2010 period. The sites were mapped using a GPS device and were enlisted in the Flora Croatica base system. The habitats were classified according to Habitat Classification of the Republic of Croatia. In Zagreb County towns S. gigantea is more widespread and was found in 166 sites, whereas S. canadensis was found in 66 sites. Both species were recorded in all Zagreb County towns. The highest number of findings was recorded in Samobor (41), followed by Sesvete (40 findings), Zaprešić (29), Dugo Selo (24), Ivanić Grad (23), Vrbovec (21), Velika Gorica (17), Jastrebarsko (15), Sveta Nedjelja (10), and Sveti Ivan Zelina (9 findings). Both species were recorded in 19 different types of habitat, the most common being mosaic complex crop structures with houses (40 findings), yards and home gardens (30 findings), industrial and crafts areas (26 findings), along with detached houses with backyards (22 findings). The above findings indicate that Solidago species have been cultivated anthropogenically as ornamental plants in the urban ares of Zagreb County. The research shows that both species are also well cultivated in the following habitats: large construction sites – individual lagre buildings under construction (19 findings), untended bush-covered agricultural areas (13 ) as well as in the urban areas occupied by railway and road traffic (18 and 10 findings respectively), where they are also part of larger formations in the border urban areas.
