Sažetak
The paper analyzes the results of two socio-religious research conducted 1997th and 1999. year. The first was conducted on the national sample, and the other in the city of Zagreb and Zagreb County. Into account are taken only data pertaining to the problems associated with the role of the Catholic Church in public and political life in Croatia. It turned out that the Church of the Croatian public expects higher contribution to the democratization of society and the development of modern civil society. This means that changes within the Church, and its opening to the larger society, especially in the field of social welfare, education, and part of education.
