Sažetak
The secret of copper production was the driving force which caused changes in the cultural landscape of Vinkovci around 3500 BC. The main protagonists of the Copper Age, or Eneolithic, were mobile animal herders, who were stopped by the marshland and oak-forest front, which made them turn to tilling and hunting. However, in the Vinkovci region, the Eneolithic began with the Lasinja Culture, rooted in the Neolithic, and formed primarily on the substrate of the Sopot Culture. Finds originating from the Lasinja Culture have been identified at the site of the Hotel Slavonija, on the Tržnica tell. Baden Culture settlements were erected in previously uninhabited areas. A Kostolac Culture bowl was discovered at Ervenica, during the archaeological rescue excavation at 102 Matija Gubec Street, while some accidental finds originate from the site of Marica. In the late Eneolithic, in the territory of Slavonia and Syrmia, under the influence of the second wave of migration of eastern-European peoples and the Kostolac Culture, the Vučedol Culture emerged. This population gladly used former settlements – tell Tržnica, simply improving their steep slopes and erecting palisade walls.
