Sažetak
In the modern world, better socioeconomic living conditions have influenced the higher life expectancy of the population but accordingly led to an increase in the number of people with dementia. The latest scientific estimates indicate that by 2040 there are as many as 81 million people in the world, and by 2050, over 115 million people with dementia. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the primary cause of cognitive dysfunction in older people around the world. Cognition and cognitive processes are a significant factor in the functioning of people in all life-spans, so it is understandable that they represent a significant factor in the prevention and treatment of people with dementia. Given the current research, cognitive training is considered to affect the prevention of dementia as well as the treatment of existing symptoms in patients. Given the possibilities and differences in the ways and forms of cognitive training, it is possible to adapt cognitive training to the existing signs. Changes in cognitive functioning also linked to education, nutrition, physical activity throughout life at a certain level. There is still no drug, no one hundred percent effective prevention of disease, but the research mentioned above provides guidance on how to prevent disease, and also to help patients with dementia.
