Sažetak
In healthcare facilities, great importance is attached to sterilization procedures. It is therefore important to ensure a consistent level of sterilization of both new equipment and instruments as well as the one used for reusable use as measures to protect patients and staff from spreading infections or experiencing postoperative complications as well as inter-hospital infections. The term interhospital infection implies the occurrence of an infection that occurred during the patient's stay in the stationary. In order to eliminate inter-hospital infections, it is necessary to implement sanitary-hygiene measures in routine work in healthcare facilities. Therefore, the quality control of sterilization procedures should demonstrate the effectiveness of the sterilization carried out. A test laboratory in a health institution that is accredited according to HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007 is a proof of professional and technical qualifications for conducting certain examinations. To this end, it is necessary to carry out education of health and non-health workers participating in sterilization procedures on the prevention regarding spreading of infections thus highlighting the importance of monitoring the operation of the appliances used in sterilization procedures.
