Sažetak
The aim of this study was to evaluate the anchorage capacity of posterior teeth using straight-wire appliance(SWA) after extraction of first premolars and to determine Goshgarian transpalatal arch (TA) as anchorage reinforcement. SWA was applied on modified typodont with different anchorage aids and Ni- Ti springs to retract canines. All experiments were recorded by video camera and the analog signal has been digitized and saved on PC. Mesial and distal points of each tooth were connected in the beginning and at the end of each experiment, what was necessary to make the computer superimposition. Computer animation visualized the direction and amouunt of tooth movement. Very significant loss of anchorage was found where premolars and molars were reinforced. The stops were found as well as additional anchorage unit, which do not stop the molar rotation completely but making it symmetrical.TA applied solely in passive condition stabilizes molars and unable buccal movements of molars and together with stops improve excellent stabilization of distal anchorage. A significant difference between active and passive TA in sense of stabilization of distal anchorage was not found.
