Sažetak
The paper provides an analysis of the impact of the current reforms in Croatia on inequality. In 2015, the Gini coefficient of income inequality in Croatia (0.306) was very close to the EU-27 average, which stood at 0.31. This also puts it between the Central European countries, which tend to have lower income inequality and other postsocialist countries and southern European countries which tend to have higher income inequality. Financial savings in banks indicate very high wealth inequalities, but that is somewhat reduced by high rates of home ownership. Following an overview of inequality, the focus shifts on country-specific recommendations issued by the Council of European Union in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and their actual and expected impact on economic and social policy reform in Croatia. Other reforms (implementation of Youth Guarantee, reform of public administration and comprehensive curricular reform) are also analysed.
