Sažetak
Heat pumps have been recognized as an energy efficient and environmentally friendly technology for heating and cooling for years. As such, they contribute to the EU's energy strategy, especially as heating and cooling systems in rural areas, where no cost-effective district heating systems are available. Encouraged by this, the SEAdrion project - Fostering Diffusion of Heating & Cooling Technologies Using the Seawater Pump in the Adriatic-Ionian Region, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, was launched. So, it is worth to present a project that aims to improve the innovation capability in the field of heat pumps and to increase the number of sea water heat pumps in the Adriatic-Ionian region. The heat pumps market was also analyzed and a comparison of different technologies of the heat pumps was made, with a more detailed review of the seawater heat pumps. Also, as a part of the project three pilot plants for sea water heat pumps are planned: two in Croatia and one in Greece. So, a pilot plant in Thalassotherapia in Crikvenica will be presented with an overlook on present status, the demonstration system itself and targeted energy savings and reduction of greenhouse gases.
