Sažetak
The authors discuss the making of heroic topography of Hrvatsko zagorje inspired by the cultures of memory related to Matija Gubec and Josip Broz Tito The landscape of Zagorje is encountered, constructed and brought to life through the prism of its heroic legacy, seen from the present-time perspective. It functions as a sort of inscribed space, the concept that shifts out focus onto the diverse ways in which people attach adequate meanings to certain locations, marking them with their presence, experiences and memories (cf. Low & Lawrence- Zúñiga, 2003:13-18). What is established when hero-making processes are anchored in concrete space is the heroic topography. The main concerns of this article are the strategies and mechanisms of its production, as well as the tactics and techniques of its usage.
