Sažetak
The Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) boundary is characterized by major global extinction and extraordinary sedimentary perturbations around the Gulf of Mexico, which are related to the Chicxulub asteroid impact on Yucatan that occurred 66 million years ago (Alvarez et al., 1980 ; Schulte et al., 2010). Although the K–Pg boundary hiatus is a common feature within the shallow marine successions on almost the entire Adriatic Carbonate Platform s. str. (ACP, Korbar, 2009), there are at least two exceptional sections on Hvar and Brač islands (Dalmatia, Croatia) that are characterized by continuous sedimentation and an unusual deposit at the K–Pg boundary (Korbar et al., 2015, 2017a), which can be interpreted as a major tsunamite related to the impact. Besides, there is a new discovery at Pivka (Slovenia) - distinct bioclastic intercalation within Maastrichtian to Paleocene succession of predominantly micritic limestones of Liburnian formation (Korbar et al., 2017b).
