Sažetak
Aim Aim of this invitro study was to was to assess the efficacy of two reciprocating systems (Reciproc [VDW, Munich, Germany] and Reciproc Blue [VDW, Munich, Germany]) compared with a nickel- titanium (NiTi) rotary system (ProTaper Next Retreatment [Dentsply Maillefer]) in the removal of root canal filling material. Methodology Thirty six root canals of extracted human maxillary incisors and premolars were instrumanted using the NiTi Pro-Taper Next technique and filled with guttapercha and epoxy-resin based sealer using cold lateral condensation technique. After two weeks, the specimens were randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 12) according to the system used for filling removal: Group 1: Instrument R40 of the Reciproc system, Group 2: Instrument R40 of the Reciproc Blue system and Group 3: NiTi rotary instruments of the ProTaper Universal Retreatment system. The specimens were scanned in a micro- computed tomographic (micro-CT) device after root canal filling and after the retreatment with rotary and reciprocating instruments. Results were statistically analyzed with Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal- Wallis test. Results All teeth examined had filling remnants within the canal. No statistically significant difference (P>.05) in residual filling material was observed among the groups Conclusion The Reciproc and Reciproc Blue reciprocating systems were as effective as the ProTaper Universal retreatment system for gutta- percha and sealer removal.
