Sažetak
Video-recording attacks is a newer form of peer violence, characterized by a known innocent or unknown random victim being deliberately attacked physically and verbally, and that event being recorded by a video camera or mobile phone ; then the video is ed ited by adding provocative titles and published on the Internet and / or transferred by mobile. The aim of this qualitative research is to gain a deeper insight and a better understanding of video-recording attacks as a complex form of peer violence based on young people's experience, opinions and attitudes.The data were collected by focused discussion in 4 focus groups (N = 26), attended by students of University of Zagreb, of 21.6 years average age. The results show that for participants there is no dilemma that video recording attacks is a form of violence, and it is inconceivable to them that it can be seen as s a form of entertainment. While young men claim to have participated in organised fights and are inclined to watching such conten t, girls have no such experience and are reluctant to watch it, although such content on the Internet is almost inevitable. Those who initiate violence and those who record and write comments are classified into the same category of perpetrators, and when it comes to those who passively observe violence, the respondents find justifications for them. They agree that fundamental reason for the young people participating in this form of violence is gaining popularity. Such behaviour is contributed by family, society, and especially media responsible for "creating massive insensitivity to violence".The conclusion offers suggestions for prevention and it points out that the most important protection possible is to "restore moral upbringing to the centre of attention".
