Sažetak
Olive pollen is a one of the most important causes of inhalant allergy in countries around the Mediterranean sea. The aim of this investigation was to establish the frequency of hypersensitivity to the pollen of Olea europea in pollen allergic patients in area of Zadar and Zadar County. A total of 671 patients with pollen allergy were examined. Out of 671 patients 61% were male and 39% were female. From all number of participants 53.5% were children aged from 4 to 14 years and 46.5% were adults from 15 to 59 years old. The patients were assessed by anamnestic data, clinical examination, measurement of pulmonary function (adults and child rens older than 7 years), skin prick test and enzymoimmunologic UniCAP test for measurements of specific Ig E antibodies. For statistical analysis we used chi square test. Hypersensitivity to the allergy of Olea europea occurred in 8.8% assessed patients with pollen allergy. The most prevalent clinical manifestation was rhinitis registered in 58% allergic patients to Olea europea pollen. Majority of patients with hypersensitivity to olive pollen live in township, p<0.05. Only 3% live on an island. The hypersensitivity to allergen of Olea europea in our patients was the lowest from the examined countries in the Mediterranean area.
