Sažetak
Nowadays, more and more people engage in the process of learning English as it is becoming lingua franca of today’s world. People in all corners of the world are exposed to English on a daily basis due to the process of globalization. It means that linguistic borrowings are accompanied by cultural ones as well. Due to such global impact of English, contact linguistics deals not only with linguistic changes, but sociolinguistic and cultural issues as well. This paper deals with the orthographic and morphological analyses of Anglicisms found in Edo Maajka’s songs, and it primarily relies and focuses on the theory and practice that Filipović presented in several of his works. Rudolf Filipović was one of the most famous Croatian linguists, who set grounds of contact linguistics in the Croatian and Russian languages. Not many Anglicisms from Edo Maajka’s songs can be found in Filipović’s dictionary, since they are of more recent period. The results of this case study have shown that 85% of the corpus consists of nouns and that the words are mostly borrowed through the process of zero transmorphemization. They have also shown that nouns are mostly of masculine gender and that those of feminine gender often go through the process of contamination. Concerning the orthographic level of adaptation, the results of the analysis have shown that the citation form of Anglicisms is in most cases formed according to the pronunciation of the model, i.e. according to the first principle.
