Sažetak
Some facts regarding the possible influence of nasal septal deformities (NSDs) to the development of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) seem to be unclear. In the part commenting on the Poje et al.2 study, the text states that “the incidence of type 1 (the‘Passali’deformity)wasfoundtobesignificantly higher in the CRS patient group.” This is an error. It should have said“type7”insteadof“type1, ”asinTableVII- 7onpage S67, whereitiscorrectlyreferenced.InternationalF orumof AllergyandRhinology(IFAR)readersshouldnotethatt ype 1representsonlyunilateral, vertical, slightlatera ldeflection of the most anterior part of the cartilaginous nasal septum. “Passali deformity” (type 7 or “crumpled septum”), however, consists of at least 1 of the so called horizontal deformities (types 5 and/or 6) and at least 1 of the so called vertical deformities (types 1, 2, 3, and 4).3, 4
