Sažetak
Energy performance improvements in Croatian started to change notably with the implementation of Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27 / EU. As the EU Member States are required to use energy more efficiently at all stages of the energy chain, Directive 2012/27/EU was implemented in Croatian legislation through The Energy Efficiency Act. Directive 2012/27/EU with one part refers to the industry as industry represent more than 40% of the total energy needs. Energy consumption of Croatia industry represent only 16.37 % of final energy consumption it must comply with the legal provisions in form of The Energy Efficiency Act. Companies are divided by three criteria on small medium and large enterprises. The energy audit for large enterprises is commitment and must be conducted every four years or the company can implement an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 and become exceptions from this provision. Implementation of ISO 50001 begins with energy policy which in long turn with PDCA cycle improve energy efficiency. Energy savings can be seen in the first year and monitoring of progress is done by constantly tracking of energy efficiency indicators. Thru the paper overview of the norms required for successful implementation is given as well as legal background of implementation process. Implementation of the energy management system policy represent the beginning of sustainable energy performance improvements.
