Sažetak
Textile industry is considered to be one of the major environmental pollutants, primarily due to wastewaters quantity and composition. Therefore, it is important to examine different methods of their treatment. This paper explores a possibility of removing dye Reactive Black 5 by adsorption on activated carbon. For this purpose, the isothermal adsorption of dye Everzol Black B at 45(±1) °C was carried out in time from 30 - 960 minutes, and is compared with results obtained for dye Drimarene Black B. It was found that already after 30 min dye Drimarene Black R-3B was adsorbed by 20 % more compared to dye Everzol Black B. This fact confirmed assumption that dyes of the same chemical constitution, but produced by different manufacturers have a different content of chromophoric component and additional substances, what results in their different behaviour during adsorption. In order to investigate the mechanism of adsorption of Everzol Black B dye on activated carbon a kinetic studies have been also carried out. Experimental data were analysed by a pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models, as well as intraparticle diffusion model.
