Sažetak
Tourism is one of the leading and most promising activities in Croatia. It accounts for about 35- 40% of all employees that makes it a very important job generator. The quality of service, supported by the human resorces, is the key to success in tourism. In the light of progress of tourism, and concerning specific tourism pesonnel, Croatia needs to work a lot on the development of the existing tourism human resources and management as well as to educate professions for the tourism of the future. This paper presents trends in the employment in tourism industry, the qualification structure of the employees, their percentage in the total employment in Croatia in the past 10 years, and the problems of seasonality and the quality of human resources.
