Sažetak
Voice transmission deserves a particular attention in the context of contemporary development of modern 3G mobile communications systems. A new generation of adaptive multirate codecs (AMR) enables dynamic optimisation of transmission quality and avalilable capacity of the system. This article highlights fundamental principles deployed for voice coding and voice transmission in contemporary development of 3G wireless systems. There is a summary on essential characteristics of speech, identification of key properties exploited by speech coding and speech compression algorithms, and presentation of details connected with variable speech rate transmission deployed within modern codecs design for wireless communications.
