Sažetak
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in the world. Rehabilitation after stroke requires re-learning of daily activities in the functioning of the affected person. The rehabilitation process is complex and multidisciplinary because, apart from motor damage, problems in psychosocial functioning can occur. Cognitive-perceptual-emotional elements which are integral part to personality traits can modify motor control and motor learning. Systematic search of Web of Science and Scopus databases was performed. Key words included for searching were stroke, rehabilitation, personality traits and exercise. Cited papers were included in research. In recent studies, the five-factor model of personality, with its characteristics associated with specific health behaviour, is most accepted. Exercise motives affect behaviour only, while personality traits affect directly on exercise motivations, as well as on exercise-related behavioural modification. Studies have shown some differences in the motor functioning of persons with different personality traits and it is necessary to check whether personality traits can be considered as predictors of successful rehabilitation after stroke.
