Sažetak
The aim of this field research was to examine the effective language use when it comes to the semantic field of everyday home aids (in this paper the results are related to the word stump), for which it is known from the experience that most commonly a dialectal expression is used, instead of the expression in the standard Italian language. Therefore, particulary interesting for the study were the italophone lexical variants (Italian and/or Istrovenetian). The dimensions of language variation are interpreted on the basis of the lexical usage frequency, the diamesic variants, the diatopic distribution (40 istrian localities) and the sociolinguistic variables of the sample N=1444 (age, gender, mother tongue).
