Sažetak
Numerous issues a society is bound to confront in the aftermath of an armed conflict such as safety, the quality of life in affected areas, negative impact on economy etc. have all been properly addressed in public discourse and practice. However, we would like to raise an issue of the cultural heritage in regard to MSA, which does not seem to be properly addressed in this context. Numerous known and prominent archaeological sites are situated in MSA. Many of these sites are well known to scholarship as well as to the general public. Unfortunately, the most sites in question still remain unregistered with the proper cultural heritage register at the national level. As such, this rich cultural heritage falls through the administrative cracks and remains outside the purview of public policies regarding demining efforts. We would like to address several issues in this paper including: cultural heritage as one of the priorities in demining efforts, damage inflicted on cultural goods as a result of war efforts, adding new stakeholders to demining process and the imperative to develop demining standards of cultural heritage. Cultural heritage in MSA in the area of Ravni Kotari (Zadar hinterland, Croatia) will be presented as a case study in discussing these issues.
