Sažetak
This study is a continuation on the author’s previous research on the emergence of Croatian Native Faith as a spiritual-magical concept on the territory of Republic of Croatia in the first two decades of the 21st century. Some prior conclusions are summarised in this article, because this is first article on the subject of Croatian Native Faith published in English. In the first part of this article there is a short history of the Croatian Native Faith movement from 2004 to 2014. The second, main part of this article reports the results of a study on gender issues in the Croatian Native Faith movement that was conducted in the summer 2013. The data for this research was collected through numerous interviews, through a review of official website and records of the Croatian Native Faith community, as well as through authors’ personal attendance at some events. The study found that when viewed in terms of gender issues, sex and sexuality, the Croatian Native Faith community is on the one hand completely open to gender equality, except in the cases of traditional roles in the celebrations and ceremonies, while on the other hand, it is still very divided, uncertain and cautious towards people of the LGBT sexual orientation.
