Sažetak
The aim of this research was both within the level of surface expression and within the level of meaning to com-pare verb-prepositional collostructs with perfective prefixal verb of motion ići ‘leave’ in Croatian and oditi ‘leave’ in Slovenian. First, basing on Talmy’s research (1985/2007), we compare the prefixes od-/ot- and pre-positons in Croatian and Slovenian that as a close-class units, along with the basic verb of movement, represent the Path-satellite element of motion, especially when they denote the path or direction of trajectory’s motion relative to landmark. Second, we describe the meaning potential of the Croatian and Slovene prefix od-/ot- ‘from’, which are in both languages a constituent element of the verbs otići and oditi, We highlight collostructs with repetitive prefixal-prepositional constituents, Cro. otići od and. Slo. oditi od ‘go from’. Then, using the corpora hrWaC and slWaC, we focus on the most frequent collostructs with the Croatian verb otići and the Slovenian verb oditi and other prepositions. From these results we determine which unit, a prefix or a preposi-tion, is a key Path-satellite element that determines the path or direction of the basic verb of motion.
