Sažetak
This paper proposes the contrastive analysis of a particular type of interactional discourse markers. A part from well-known distinction between textual and interactional discourse markers (Hansen 1998 ; Bazzanella 2001), later category can be divided into the discourse markers that indicate the relationship towards the ongoing interactional process and those that indicate the relationship to the content of the interactional process (Nigoevic 2011). As far as discourse markers that indicate the relationship to the content of the interactional process are concerned, they express the speaker attitude towards the propositional content of the utterance and we distinguish the discourse markers with mainly monological function (intensifiers and hedges) and discourse markers that occur mainly in the dialogical patterns (agreement/disagreement, doubt and distance). For the purpose of this paper we have analyzed the linguistic elements that can function as discourse marker of (dis)agreement, doubt and distance in a Slavic language and we have proposed their functional equivalents in a Romance language. By adopting Pomerantz's (1984) classification of turns in agreement and disagreement, along with the positive/negative politeness strategy proposed by Brown, Levinson (1987) our aim was to identify and compare these functional units in the Croatian and Italian language.
