Sažetak
Titanium dioxide materials, especially various nanostructured TiO2 in different forms have been widely investigated for many different applications due to their high photocatalytic activity, chemical stability, nontoxicity and cost-efficient synthesis. In this work, the titania thin-films were synthesized by an electrochemical anodization process. The anodization was carried out in a Teflon cell with Ti foil as the working electrode (surface area 1 cm2) and Pt foil as the counter electrode, under 60 V voltage for 3 h in different fluoride-based electrolytes. The electrolyte composition variation comprised of water content change from 2 wt% to 24 wt%, with constant 0.3 wt% ammonium fluoride and remaining ethylene glycol. The electrolytes were characterized using cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) before and after anodization. The obtained titania thin-film samples were structurally characterized by Raman spectroscopy (RS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the results were correlated with the different water contents in the electrolytes. The horizontal and vertical morphologies of the obtained thin films strongly depend on the water content. At water contents around 10-12%, titania thin-films resemble ordered nanotubes which were found to be especially applicable as electron transport layers in photovoltaics. Borderline compositions display microstructures suitable for photocatalytic applications.
