Sažetak
Due to the intensive development of technology, techniques and population growth on global level increases the amount of disposed waste and need for systematic management of the same. Waste management is relevant because of possibilities of directing small amounts of waste to landfills, proper waste separation, proper waste disposal and maximizing the useful properties of the waste. Waste management appears as a segment of the concept of green logistics, and system that uses reverse logistics activities. The development of technology and techniques affects innovation in waste management. Innovations in waste management, such as “smart containers” are aimed to a fair charge of garbage collection service, vehicles routing for maximizing efficiency (minimizing vehicles empty trips) and many other advantages. This paper is comparative analysis of waste management in Croatia and other countries that have implemented certain waste management solutions. Selected new technologies regarding waste management processes optimization will be presented as well.
