Sažetak
Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is one of the oldest crops grown by man. Morphological traits, isozymes, RAPDs, seed protein genes and microsatellites were used to develop the integrated map of the species. Eleven F2 populations with a total of 654 individuals were analyzed simultaneously. Linkage analysis revealed 15 major linkage groups, 7 of which were unambiguously located on specific chromosomes. The composite map includes 200 loci and covers 1670 cM with an overall average marker interval of 8 cM. Once a saturated linkage map is available, marker-assisted selection as well as QTL mapping are greatly facilitated. Results obtained so far clearly show that combining trisomic segregation, linkage analysis of loci detected in different populations, and the use of physically localized markers allows the establishment of a more complete genetic linkage map with wide coverage of chromosomes. The approach has allowed both to reduce the number of linkage groups, and to assign most of them to specific chromosomes.
