Sažetak
3D Human Torso is a project funded by Croatian Science Foundation that focuses on 3D surface reconstruction and analysis. Recent project activities included researching and developing methods for the 3D reconstruction in static and dynamic conditions. In this stage, many methods for 3D surface reconstruction were developed, including the method for software synchronization of projector and camera, and a method for efficient separation of overlapping patterns projected using multiple projectors. These methods are successfully implemented as part of 3D structured light scanning system at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. Current research activities are focused on the analysis of reconstructed 3D surfaces, primarily the reconstructed 3D surface of the human back. So far, a method for a 3D segmentation of the human body using anthropometric information was developed. Using the segmented torso, the analysis of the back shape can be performed in order to analyse the possible spinal deformities. Using the reconstructed 3D surface of the back, surface curvatures are computed and used to detect the maximal symmetry line which represent the spinal curve present on the surface of the back. In the future, the further analysis of the detected spinal curve will be carried out in order to compute the spinal mobility and other parameters that could be helpful in the diagnostics of the spinal deformities.
