Sažetak
Trepča/Stari Trg in Kosovo is one of the world known localities famous among collectors for its beautiful crystal druses of various minerals. Mining activities in that region, mainly for silver in galena, began in Middle Ages (13th century) making Stari Trg mine one of the oldest mine in Europe. Together with major ore minerals galena and sphalerite, around 80 mineral species were found so far in Trepča. The most abundant are pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, quartz and rhombohedral carbonates but interesting rarities such as vivianite, ludlamite and childrenite should also be mentioned. Most interesting by far are beautiful examples of pseudomorphoses of one mineral after another especially among sulphides. Diversity of oriented growths among different mineral species, twinned crystals and amazing crystal morphologies are particularly admired not only for their beauty but for they present a great source in studying paragenesis relations and crystallization processes. Croatian Natural History Museum in Zagreb, Croatia holds one of the oldest collection of Trepča minerals dating back to years 1925 and 1932 when first observations of Trepča mine region were made and first specimens for the museum were collected by prof. Fran Tućan and his assistant at the time Ljudevit Barić. From those days forward the collection has been growing and Trepča minerals have been studied and admired by generations of mineralogists treasuring it for those to come. Because of their beauty and longevity some of the most interesting ones were selected for display on The Munich Show 2017.
