Sažetak
To be in a position to design crystalline solids with desired properties, as one of the main crystal engineering goals, we firstly need to be able to design crystal structures with predefined topologies. Hydrogen bonds have proven to be an invaluable crystal engineering tool, and a number of supramolecular synthetic strategies to harness their potential have already been developed for purely organic systems. There is a need for similar strategies for metalorganic systems as those give us an access to properties that are generally not available in metal-free settings. Unfortunately, due to dynamic nature of non- covalent interactions, those systems have not yet received any near the same attention. Here, we would like to examine potential transferability of those strategies from pure organic to metal- organic systems. With this in mind, we have prepared a series of copper(I) and copper(II) halide coordination polymers with pyrazine and pyrimidone derivates. We found that the prepared compounds exhibit 1D polymeric chains, usually found in copper(I) and copper(II) halides, along with the hydrogen bond motifs observed in purely organic settings.
