Sažetak
Research on socio-pedagogical competence of teachers and school culture emphasizes and reveals important determinants of teachers in a modern school, who can due to their high level of competence, meet the demands of students. By monitoring the new pedagogical cognitions, it is possible to observe changes of the importance of teacher's competence under the influence of society, globalization, labour market trends, and the emergence of new technologies and rationalization of operations. Teachers are a key factor of distinguishing schools and of creating the school’s identity, therefore, the teacher's role is important for co-creation of the culture of modern school. Advocating humanistic learning theory, this paper investigated the connection between socio-pedagogical competence of teachers and school culture. The paper also used theoretical and empirical analysis. The results of a quantitative research conducted with 696 teachers in 30 elementary schools in five Slavonian counties in Croatia, show a statistically significant connection between socio pedagogical competence of teachers and school culture. The research results are important for emphasizing the socio-pedagogical competence of teachers in scientific and professional terms, and their impact on school culture, thus contributing to determining the role of social and pedagogical competence in school culture, they encourage the change of study programs and lifelong training and discovering of hidden school curricula, in order to raise awareness and improve them. By emphasizing the contextual factors, it is possible to contribute to the increase of the quality of lifelong learning of teachers with a greater emphasis on developing social pedagogical competence and a positive school culture.
