Sažetak
Communication is an integral part of any relationship with patients and their families, and represents the key to the success of the medical team. Communication and relationship have been demonstrated to have an impact on patients’ experience of care, to improve patients’ adherence to treatment regimens, clinical outcomes and quality, patient safety, teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and to reduce medical malpractice risk. Healthcare professionals with effective interpersonal skills will have more satisfied patients, and they will be able to give more emotionally to patients and will, in turn, get more satisfying responses from them. Physicians' comprehensive knowledge of patients and patients' trust were the most strongly associated with adherence, and trust was the most strongly associated with patients' satisfaction with physician. And only good communication can prove above mentioned. Building relationships is extremely important, not only in the beginning, but during the whole patient - physician interaction. If physician provide more information to patients about the disease that will reduce psychological stress, symptoms will disappear quickly, and outcome of treatment will be increased. So, it is very important for healthcare professionals to learn and improve communication skills and to be aware of patient’s biological as well as psychological, social and spiritual needs.
