Sažetak
One of the basic premises of the chapter is that the unconscious does not habitate isolated in the enclave of the mind but is its integral and vital part. It also prompts us to conclude that the conscious ‘self’ is never alone. It is thus possible to say: no consciousness without the nonconscious ; however, the opposite is true, too: the nonconscious does not come out of blue but is powered by once conscious contents. As such the nonconscious permanently exercises its impact upon the conscious ‘counterpart’. As this takes the form of ongoing cross-fertilization, the unconscious shapes and reshapes itself and constantly increases its competence. (If it were merely blind and ignorant it could never serves us so well as it does.) The life of mind is a result of intensive mutuality of both of these spheres, whereby it has to be stressed that most of the mental activity by far is of nonconscious nature. That allows us to claim further that not only is mind embodied but also body ‘enminded’. Once we make the idea of ‘knowing’ body, or ‘bodily wisdom’ plausible, this means dismantling of the ‘gapped’ or counterpointed image of human mentality that still haunts many theoretical minds.
