Sažetak
Over the past decade there have been many different applications of Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology that affected the organisation of retailing operations, its efficiency as well as customer satisfaction. Main advantage of RFID technology is that through improved information flow control most queuing times within supply chains can potentially be eliminate, increasing the efficiency of logistics operations. In order to evaluate the realisation of this potential, a literature overview and analysis was performed. The goal of this paper is to establish a framework for the classification of RFID applications in the area of retailing and define the main characteristics of each group of possible applications, main advantages they provide to the application areas and main challenges that need to be taken into account. Classification of RFID applications derived and proposed in this paper can be used as a guideline of best practices in planning, developing and implementing future RFID incentives in various settings in the area of Retailing.
