Sažetak
In processing different wood materials, significant difference of dust emission was found, depending on material structure. It is well known that carpenters suffer health risk of nose and nasal cavity cancer under influence of oak- and beech-wood dust. Using the gravimetric method for the measurement of wood mass concentration, the samples of total and respirable wood dust were gathered with three pairs of stationary gatherers. The sampling was carried out near the circular saw during sawing of spruce- and oak-wood, particleboard and fiberboard (MDF). Machining of MDF creates about five times the amount of total dust compared to machining of spruce- or oak-wood and particleboard. When machining the particleboard, the respirable dust concentration is about 50 % higher compared to machining spruce- or oak-wood and 50 % lower than when machining the MDF. Wood dust concentration values are higher than the allowed values during board machining.
