Sažetak
Currently, in Republic of Croatia, the education system is under reform. Main goal of the reform is to better link education with the labour market. The basis for the reform is Croatian Qualification Framework (CROQF), which places special emphases on learning outcomes, competences that a person has acquired through learning and their compliance with labour market needs. The paper presents the results of research conducted within the ME4CataLOgue project concerning desirable and missing competencies of bachelors and masters of mechanical engineering as well as results of the thematic evaluation of graduate studies at the University of Rijeka, related to the assessment of teachers and students on the representation of practical training and acquisition of practical competence during the study. On the case of welding engineering the compliance of defined learning outcomes at the Faculty of Engineering and real need for such knowledge in shipbuilding industry is tested.
