Sažetak
This report contains the results of measuring ambient dose equivalent rate 𝐻̇∗(10) using gamma radiation detector RDS-31 S/R Multi-Purpose Survey Meter, on 150 external locations in the city of Slavonski Brod, Croatia. Data were recorded during the period from July, 2016 to August, 2016. The primary focus of this research was to examine existence of significant deviations in the data recorded throughout different city areas (which are established by the General Urban Plan), and also to verify if they are in the range of average values for Croatia. The measurements were taken 1 meter above the ground (soil) with sampling time of 15 minutes per location. The data recorded shows that there are no fluctuations between individual areas that exceed the range of permitted limits (the results vary from 50 nSv/h to 110 nSv/h). However, it was observed that some of the recorded data was slightly higher in relation to others that were recorded in the same area. This was most probably caused by different meteorological conditions during the measurement period, or that specific points represent places of expected radiation exposure (as the result of increased radiation from natural radionuclides). To confirm these claims, we repeated the measurements in the locations where deviations were unexpected. The repeated measurements did not differ significantly from others within proximity as previous measurements indicated, therefore we conclude that there were no external radioactive sources.
