Sažetak
The objective of this symposium was to reinforce the expanding potential of picturebooks, also known in ELT as realbooks, for language education. It began with a definition from Bader (1976). There was a brief discussion around the advantages of picturebooks over learner literature, which emphasised the authenticy of both pictures and words in picturebooks. The five speakers shared their views and experience of working with picturebooks from different perspectives: responding to picturebook design and aesthetics, promoting learning literacy through picturebooks, global issues in picturebooks, picturebooks in FL teacher education and picturebooks and parents.
