Sažetak
Animation in tourism, as a part of the tourist offer, is an important element of the market competitiveness and services system for satisfaction of modern guests’ needs. Tourist animation includes organisation of free time in the form of provision of activities for recreation, entertainment and relaxation, oriented towards target market segments, for example, children, adults, retired people and sportsmen. By recognising the importance of organisation of animation programmes and their current positions, the research problem is set: “Does the organised tourist animation affect the competitiveness of the hotel offer and the attractiveness of the Istrian tourist destinations?” Determination of the significance of organised tourist animation for the destination development is defined as the research goal, as well as the analysis of the grade for organised animation in the resort of an Istrian hotel company. The methodology is based on quantitative, statistical and qualitative research methods and includes survey research of guest satisfaction, in-depth interview with the animation service managers in Istrian hotel companies, method of the comparative analysis and other scientific and research methods. The research opens new questions, but also offers qualitative solutions oriented towards the best possible quality organisation of the animation activities based on individual features of each destination and towards the requests of modern tourist demand.
