Sažetak
The development of the Croatian Competency Framework (CCF) was a project initiated by the Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medical Biochemistry, University of Zagreb and the Croatian Pharmaceutical Society. It is based on a Global Competency Framework developed by the FIP Education Initiative (FIPEd) to support the educational development of pharmacy practitioners. A number of steps were taken to adjust the document to our national needs, using the FIPEd needs-based educational professional model. It went through translational processes, followed by extensive adjustment to meet Croatia specific needs, and finally through a profession wide consultation (public discussion) and up-dating to complete the document. The CCF is intended to act as a mapping tool and its scope focuses on a foundation level (or early years) practice. The Framework was introduced as a self-evaluation tool in order to help each individual identify learning needs, strengths and weaknesses, with an utter aim of enhancing their practice. The Framework will support the implementation of a new continuous professional development (CPD) model and form a basis for basic educational training of pharmacists, thus subsequently enabling workforce development. Furthermore, CCF will serve as a model in the ongoing graduate development of pharmacists in Croatia, thus informing curriculum development. It will provide the structure for the pre- registration training program of Croatian pharmacy students. Finally, the Framework will clearly demonstrate to patients, other healthcare professionals and to pharmacists the key knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that they bring to patients and the role they play in the safe and responsible pharmaceutical care provision.
