Sažetak
This chapter is devoted to theoretical and methodological issues of determining territorial identity as a development resource, and its study by means of the “IDENTERA" Model”. Special attention is be given to the issue of the gap between topophilia and terraphilia, i.e., between the idyllic political and media discourse about caring for the identities of geographic units such as islands, regions, cities and localities on the one hand and, on the other, the harsh reality of neglect and annihilation of the identity features through profanation of space, destruction of natural and cultural heritage, uncritical adoption of globalized ideas, values and lifestyles, etc.
