Sažetak
Short-term doctoral and junior faculty Professional Development Workshops (PDW’s) may help students in obtaining relevant knowledge needed to prepare dissertations and papers. In addition, workshops are a good place for discussing how the editorial process works, how to claim a theoretical contribution and how to adequately use research methods. They also serve as an opportunity through which students and junior faculty can gain insights from senior faculty members that act as workshop leaders. The International OFEL conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia, hosted a Doctoral Student and Junior Faculty Workshop organized in collaboration with two divisions of the Academy of Management: Managerial and Organisational Cognition Division (MOC) in the period 2012.-2015. and Organization and Management Theory Division (OMT) in 2016. The mission of the workshop was to foster interaction among doctoral students and junior faculty from South East Europe. Also, it served as a way through which attendees could receive feedback from international scholars and editors of high ranking journals. By using the above workshop as a case study, this paper looks at the sources of benefit that PDW attendees gain, along with the problems and shortcoming that they faced. This paper aims to provide sound argumentation in favour of organizing regional short-term doctoral workshops, within the field of management and organization studies.
