Sažetak
Research indicates the importance of the teacher – parent collaboration for children's social and academic success. Presuming the importance of family-school cooperation for the quality of early childhood settings, there is also a need to improve communication between parents and teachers. The teachers are responsible for the partnership. Communication is the most important tool for developing a partnership. Modern society developed new models of communication. There is a need to integrate those models in communication between school and families. The aim of this paper is to research attitudes of Croatian teachers toward contemporary models of comunication with parents as well as the teachers' perception of their competence for the use of ICT tools in that communication. Research was conducted on 8 preschool teachers. Two of them were apprentices, and the rest of them had between 10 and 30 years of work experience. The research included interviews about their communication with parents, and their attitudes and competence about ICT tools Research was done according to appropriate ethical standards and participants undertaking the research were protected. The findings of this research show that most of the teachers don't have a satisfying knowledge for contemporary models of communication with parents. Older teachers have a lack of knowledge for using ICT tools. Younger teachers show more positive attitudes toward this model of communication than older. They all showed concern about the safety of this kind of communication. According to the findings of this research, the main implications are to develop new models of education or training for preschool teachers.
