Sažetak
It is relatively certain that the Croatian labour force does not have the knowledge and skills required for a modern competitive economy. That is because the employed did not finish adequate schools, faculties and academies, and/or are insufficiently qualified or perhaps inappropriately qualified for the needs of the market economy. Based on different surveys and studies, it could be concluded that the educational system in Croatia is characterised by a lack of emphasis on the development of analytical and problem-solving abilities, the links between education and the professional world are very weak, and lifelong learning is not developed.
