Sažetak
During the early modern period, European global policy largely depended on the policy of the leading European countries, more precisely, the politics of their ruling houses. An important factor in the creation of their foreign, but also domestic policy was the marital policy. Through marriage arrangements, the royal families of European political forces intended to consolidate their political position on the European scene, strengthen the peace policy and also put the end to long-standing conflicts in order to create balance policy. For this purpose, inter-dynastic marriage arrangements were often established, even between the closest relatives, in which the Habsburg house was in forefront. However, even such marriage policy could not guarantee lasting peace. Dissatisfaction with life in such marriages of state sparked extramarital affairs. Over time, many rulers introduced the category of official court mistress. Marital infidelity that resulted in illegitimate children sometimes had far-reaching consequences for the state policy of the country, causing the dynastic crisis. There were also morganatic marriages concluded from pure love and affection, and regularly to between male ruler and his chosen one. In this paper we take the position of women in political and royal marriages. The aim of this paper is to indicate women's role arranging royal marriages and discriminated standing toward their marriage partners.
