Sažetak
The present study evaluated the effectivness and persistence of three post-emergence herbicides - mesotrione, tembotrione and topramezone - in cornfield soil. These herbicides have recently been introduced into the crop protection market as a substitute for the long-used triazine herbicides. A field study was performed to obtain the dissipation half-lives in the topsoil and temporal distribution of herbicides in the first 40 cm of soil after their application at a registered and double higher rate. The herbicide biodegradation rate and their adsorption intensity were determined in topsoil and used with pedo/meteorological parameters for calculation of leaching potential indices. The results showed broader weed control spectrum, faster field dissipation (higher soil mobility) and slower biodegradation rate of topramezone compared to triketones. The biodegradation rate of herbicides in topsoil was lower at an enhanced application rate. Topramezone and triketone herbicides are potent highly biodegradable agrochemicals and perspective substitute for triazine corn herbicides.
