Laser produced plasmas; cavity ring-down spectroscopy
Sažetak
Temporal and spatial evolution of the laser produced plasma was studied using cavity ring- down spectroscopy (CRDS), an absorption technique which provides information not only about excited species but also on ground state or metastable particles of the laser plasma which otherwise cannot be detected with emission techniques. The CRDS technique applied to laser ablation provides temporal detection of plasma plume and therefore both the density evolution of various species within the plume and plume dynamics can be monitored. In addition a numerical model to describe the measurements of the absorption spectral lineshapes of atoms observed within the laser ablated plasma plume by CRDS has been developed. Forward convolution absorption lineshapes were fitted to the experimental profiles, thus providing full information about the plume dynamics.
